Gather Required Documents
Collect all relevant documents including contracts, receipts, photographs, and any written communications related to your case.

- Written correspondence

Complete the Complaint Form
Fill out the small claims complaint form with accurate information about your case and the defendant.

File at the Courthouse
Take your completed forms and documents to the Justice Court clerk's office in your county.
Filing Fee: Typically $50-$100 depending on claim amount. Ask about fee waivers if you cannot afford the fee.

Serve the Defendant
The defendant must be officially notified of the lawsuit. The court will arrange service through the sheriff or process server.
Important: You cannot serve the papers yourself. Service must be done by an authorized person.
